Part of the fun of a night at Suka Camping is the drive in. Karak and Bentong are proper food towns, known for lemang, old-school Cantonese kopitiam, wantan mee and, in season, durian. If you're heading our way, it's worth planning one good stop.
Ours is easy: Lemang To'Ki 2 on Jalan Karak, about 15 minutes' drive from Suka Camping. Here's what to order there, where else locals eat, and how to turn it into dinner at your tent.
Lemang To'Ki 2 on Jalan Karak
Lemang To'Ki is one of the best-known lemang names in Pahang, and travellers on the Karak Highway have been stopping there for years. The Jalan Karak outlet (Lemang To'Ki 2) is the closest to us.
Lemang is glutinous rice cooked with coconut milk inside bamboo over an open fire. It comes out fragrant, slightly smoky and soft, and it's usually eaten with something rich on the side. At Lemang To'Ki that means:
- Lemang with rendang: the classic pairing, and the reason most people come.
- Ayam bakar with air asam: grilled chicken with a sour, spicy dip. It's popular and can sell out on busy days.
- Masak lemak cili api: smoked meats cooked in a spicy coconut gravy.
- Patin tempoyak: river fish in fermented durian sauce, a true Pahang favourite.
- Cendol or ABC: to cool down afterwards.
Tips: weekends get busy, especially at lunch, so arrive early if you want the full menu. Opening hours can change, so check before you go. Find it by searching "Lemang To'Ki 2" in Waze or Google Maps.
Take it back for dinner at camp
Lemang travels well. Many guests pick up lemang and rendang on the way and enjoy them at their tent in the evening: you're welcome to bring your own food to Suka Camping. The Nest and The Haven come with a gas stove, pot, pan and cutlery, so warming things up is easy, and the Cybertruck suites have their own BBQ pit. (Please cook outside the tents, not inside.)
Prefer not to plan dinner at all? Add our steamboat dinner and breakfast when you book. See the meal options on our prices page.

- Yik Kee, Karak town: a name in Karak since 1960, known for its pastries and egg tarts, along with old-school Cantonese dishes.

Two things Bentong is famous for
Bentong ginger. The district's ginger is known across Malaysia. Look for ginger products and ginger drinks in Bentong town; they make an easy gift to bring home.
Durian. Bentong's hills are durian country, and Suka Camping itself sits among durian and banana orchards. In the season you can enjoy fresh durians from our own farm, and you can trek through the orchard any time of year. (More things to do around Karak and Bentong.)
