Glamping in Bentong means sleeping close to nature without the hard parts of camping: no tent to pitch, no gear to borrow, and a proper bed waiting for you. Suka Camping is a 13-acre campsite and glamping site in Karak, Bentong, about one hour's drive from Kuala Lumpur, surrounded by durian and banana orchards.

If you've never been glamping before, it's normal to wonder what you're actually getting. This guide answers the questions guests ask us most: what's inside the tent, what the bathrooms are like, what to eat, what to do and what it costs.

Where Suka Camping is

We're at Lot 179, Mukim Sabai, Karak, in the Bentong district of Pahang. From Kuala Lumpur, take the Karak Highway east and follow Google Maps or Waze to "Suka Camping" for the last stretch. The road is fine for regular cars. (Map and directions.)

Your glamping options

The site is split into zones, so each type of stay has its own space:

  • The Nest (Zone B, 3 tents): a cosy tent for two with one queen bed and a private deck for stargazing.
  • The Haven (Zone B, 5 tents): a spacious safari-style family tent with two queen beds, sleeps up to four.
  • Cybertruck suites (Zone C, 4 suites): two queen beds, air-con, a projector, a private bathroom, your own pool and BBQ pit. Sleeps four, or up to eight with an extra mattress or add-on tent.
  • Camping lots (Zone A, 16 lots): bring your own tent; each lot has a plug point, with a sink shared between two lots.

Weekday prices start from RM220 a night for The Nest, RM320 for The Haven and RM618 for a Cybertruck suite (excluding SST). Weekends and peak season cost more. See all prices.

What's inside a glamping tent

The Nest and The Haven come ready to use. Besides the beds, you get a camping table and chairs, a lamp, two mini fans and a standing fan, an extension plug, a 9.5-litre bottle of drinking water and a full cooking set: a portable gas stove with two gas cylinders, a mookata pot, kettle, pot, pan, knife and cutting board, and cutlery for four.

The Cybertruck suites add a BBQ pit with a bucket of charcoal, grill nets, fire starters and a lighter, a camping table with four chairs and a hairdryer. Inside it's air-conditioned, with a projector for movie night.

Bathrooms and facilities

Clean bathrooms come up again and again in our Google reviews, and we work hard to keep it that way. The shared toilets have separate male and female sections with five shower cubicles, hot water heaters and pressure pumps, plus shampoo, shower gel and hairdryers. The Cybertruck suites have their own private bathroom with a water heater.

Around the site you'll find a basin washing area, a common area for meals and gatherings, a campfire site and a car park. Cars stay in the designated parking areas and can't drive into the camping zones.

Food: bring your own or let us prepare it

You're welcome to bring your own food; there are good shops in Karak and Bentong on the way. If you'd rather not plan, add a meal package when you book:

  • Steamboat dinner and breakfast (RM50 per person, minimum two) for camping lots, The Nest and The Haven. Breakfast is nasi lemak with egg or mihun goreng Singapore, with kopi, teh or Milo.
  • BBQ, steamboat and breakfast (RM70 per person) for the Cybertruck suites, with chicken, lamb, prawns, scallops and more ready to grill.

Please don't bring induction cookers, rice cookers or other heavy electrical appliances; the plug points aren't made for them.

Things to do

  • ATV rides through the orchard tracks: RM65 per ATV for 20 minutes, with a helmet, safety briefing and guide. Riders need to be 13 to ride alone; children under 12 ride with an adult. (More ideas for your stay.)
  • Durian farm trekking through our orchard, and fresh durians from the farm during the season.
  • Games on the lawn: badminton, football, frisbee and cycling.
  • Stargazing: there's very little light pollution, so clear nights are spectacular.
  • The river stream: a lovely place to sit and listen. For safety, swimming and wading aren't allowed, and it's best to keep back from the bank after heavy rain.
